Bangladesh IT Minister Visits Yotta NM1 Data Center; Reaffirms Yotta’s Commitment to Digital Bangladesh

Part of a special mission by Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Mumbai, the visit emphasized the significance of Yotta’s investment in Bangladesh and the country’s digital transformation endeavours.

Mumbai, August 17, 2023: Yotta is delighted to announce the visit of H.E. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Hon’ble State Minister, Information & Communication Technology Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication & Information Technology, Government of Bangladesh, at Yotta NM1 Data Center in Navi Mumbai on August 16, 2023. Part of a special mission of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Mumbai, the visit came on the heels of India’s 77th Independence Day and underscored the long-standing bilateral ties between the two nations, with a focus on bolstering the digital ecosystem of Bangladesh by fostering greater business partnerships.

The Minister, accompanied by the delegation from the Government of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Mumbai, engaged with leaders from Yotta, Darshan Hiranandani, Co-founder & Chairman and Sunil Gupta, Co-founder & CEO and took an exclusive tour of Yotta NM1 Data Center. The Bangladesh delegation was also joined by Mushfiqur Rahman, Private Secretary to Hon’ble State Minister; Md Mahmudul Islam, Counsellor & Head of Chancery, Bangladesh Deputy High Commission Mumbai and Chiranjib Sarker, Deputy High Commissioner, Bangladesh Deputy High Commission, Mumbai.

Earlier this year, Yotta had announced an investment of 2000 crore Taka to build a hyperscale data center Park in Dhaka, Bangladesh which will feature 4,800 rack capacity and 28.8 MW of IT power. The visit further underlined the significance of Yotta’s investment for the Government of Bangladesh’s ‘Digital Bangladesh’ mission and strengthening the country’s position on the region’s data center map.

Speaking on this, H.E. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Hon’ble State Minister, Information & Communication Technology Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication & Information Technology, Government of Bangladesh, said, “It has been a pleasure to meet the leadership team of Yotta and the Hiranandani Group. Yotta has announced an investment of 2000 crore Taka to set up a hyperscale data center park at Hi-Tech Park Authority in Dhaka, which will serve the growing demand for Bangladesh’s data storage, and at the same time, will cater to the demand from private sector firms in the Northeast Indian region. Along with updates on the data center establishment, we also discussed the importance of cybersecurity, cloud computing, technology-led consumer services in areas of social media, AR/VR solutions, entertainment, gaming, e-sports and the pivotal role that Bangladesh plays in assisting the Hiranandani Group to grow regional dominance in these areas. Together, we will strengthen Indo-Bangladesh’s partnership in fostering digital inclusion and achieving Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041.”
