The world is suddenly faced with a business continuity challenge. With the lockdown, companies are getting adjusted with their employees working remotely and ensuring a minimum customer experience level is maintained. In India, where remote working or work from home is not a trend, suddenly every organisation is functioning remotely from thousands of location, except for some businesses who are delivering essential services. Last Friday, Yotta conducted a virtual roundtable in association with dynamicCIO – Navigating through a pandemic: A CIO Playbook, which saw nine CIOs discuss and share their plans in this crisis and how they are managing their business as usual.
“For IT leaders, the current challenge is to ensure connectivity with employees, partners ecosystem and customers at the same time”, said Jitendra Singh, CIO, JK Cement.
Ashish Bajaj, CTO, DSP Mutual Fund opined that “BFSI being a very heavily regulated industry, they were prepared for a business continuity plan (BCP). However, the scale at which all this happened has taken us by surprise”.
Talking about the crisis facing the industry, Sunil Gupta, CEO, Yotta said, “Going forward organizations need to formulate a strategy that can take care of redundancies”.
The discussion underlined that digitization and advances in technology helped many organisations to react to this adversity quickly and continue with their business as usual with minimum time.
“Employee connectivity and remote working was sorted, thanks to the marginal cost difference between laptops and desktops”, viewed J P Dwivedi, CIO, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Hospital, he further added that they had procured additional laptops that proved to be useful in these times.
This adversity has made corporates realise that the show must go on. New ideas like eJoining by implemented by JK Cement offers employees to join the organisation via virtual mode which would have otherwise delayed the process.
Besides this, there were lots of insights shared by the panellists. In case you missed the event, or want to watch the discussions again, we present you the recorded version of the webinar, hope the insight and ideas shared from this forum help you.
